The jujube is a small, oval shaped fruit that starts off green and changes to a purplish-black color when ripe. Its taste and consistency are similar to that of a green apple. The jujube fruit falls into the pectoral class alongside raisins, dates and figs. The fruit is high in nutrients and can either be eaten fresh or dried. The fruit extract has very high antioxidant content and is used for its anti-aging effects. Certain compounds found within the jujube, called jujubosides, stimulate cell rejuvenation. This leads to a firmer appearance of the skin and a smoother feel.
